NSW Mathematics – Stage 3 builds on students’ prior learning to deepen their understanding of number, algebra, measurement, space, statistics, and probability. Through NSW Mathematics – Stage 3, students strengthen their skills in calculation, reasoning, and problem-solving while applying mathematics to real-life contexts. This stage focuses on developing accuracy, efficiency, and confidence, as well as clear communication of mathematical ideas using appropriate language and representations.
In NSW Mathematics – Stage 3, students are encouraged to think critically, make connections between mathematical concepts, and justify their solutions. NSW Mathematics – Stage 3 supports the development of independent learners who can select and use effective strategies, interpret data, and apply mathematical understanding to everyday situations, preparing them for the transition to Stage 4 mathematics.
